SUNDAY, JUNE 14 AT 2:00 PM
THE WOOLWORTH CHAPEL
Join us in the Woolworth Chapel at The Woodlawn Cemetery for an enlightening discussion with Alix Strauss, author of the novel The Joy of Funerals. First published in 2003, the cult classic novel was recently re-released in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The novel explores grief and the search for human connection through the stories of nine women, each coping with loss and loneliness, and is anchored by the tale of Nina, a thirty-something Manhattanite who attends strangers' funerals in the hopes of connecting with others. Described by the Los Angeles Times as “part ‘Six Feet Under,’ part ‘Sex and the City,’” The Joy of Funerals is an Ingram Award winner and was named Best Debut Novel by The New York Resident.
