The sounds of Madam C. J. Walker strutting down the street, Dorothy Parker raising a glass, and Cicely Tyson whispering to Miles Davis are all part of The Woodlawn Suite, Victor Goines’ 13 movement work celebrating the lives of New Yorkers now at rest within the historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Commissioned by the Woodlawn Conservancy to create a modern memorial, the saxophonist and composer created these biographical sketches that link listeners to the lives of those who impacted our culture. Join Victor and his ensemble of creative musicians to be part of the premier of The Woodlawn Suite. A long-time member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and former director of the Jazz Studies Program at Northwestern University, Goines serves as President and CEO of Jazz St. Louis.
TICKETS
Sponsorship seating $5,000 for two front-row tickets and
two centrally located tables for four
Patron seating $1,500 for a front-row table for two
Benefactor seating $250 for a table seat
Individual ticket $175 for a bar stool seat
All tickets are cabaret seating, and guests will receive a CD. Donors of $250 or more will be listed as event sponsors.
Donors of $50 or more will receive a copy of the CD.
The event will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres. During the performance there will be a sit-down entrée, choice of Branzino or Short Ribs, followed by dessert. There will be an open bar of beer, wine, and soft drinks.
