Dorothy Parker and the Newsmakers of New York.
The newest boldface name to join the pantheon of great New Yorkers of Woodlawn Cemetery is the author, poet, and crusader, Dorothy Parker. After an odyssey beginning with her death in 1967, Parker’s cremains were interred beside her parents in August 2020. One year later her new gravestone was unveiled by Parker’s family, and it was national news. Woodlawn welcomes you to come on this new trolley tour that will visit her gravesite along with notable artists, captains of industry, explorers, performers and writers. In the spirit of Mrs. Parker, we’ll visit those with ties to Broadway, speakeasies and the arts. Your guide is the award-winning author Kevin C. Fitzpatrick, president of the Dorothy Parker Society, who brought Parker back to her hometown. If you love books and culture, this is the tour for you.
This is a trolley tour. All guests regardless of vaccination status will be asked to wear a mask while on the trolley. Thank you for your cooperation.
